Where should I use custom OSHA and ANSI safety tags?
OSHA tags are most commonly used in lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures to warn employees not to operate equipment while it’s being serviced. They typically include a hazard header (like DANGER), a “Do Not Operate” message, and fields for name, date, and reason for lockout.
Other typical OSHA and ANSI tag applications include ladder, scaffold and machine status tags, electrical safety tags, confined space tags, barricade tags and valve tags.
What information should be on my custom tag?
A lockout tag should clearly state “Do Not Operate” (or similar), identify the person who applied it, and include the date and reason. Other tags can include specific messages for your equipment and facility. With custom tags, you can add department, contact info, equipment ID, and a signature line to improve accountability.
Why order Tags by the Roll?
Tags by the Roll are ideal for high-usage environments because they’re easy to dispense, store, and restock. Roll format supports maintenance carts and central supply areas, reduces handling time, and is often more cost-effective than ordering individual tags in bulk.
What material is best for industrial tags?
For harsh environments, waterproof synthetic or tear-resistant materials are best. They hold up to moisture, oils, and abrasion better than paper cardstock. Flexible poly cardstock is a more durable and cost-effective option.
