On November 6, 2012, North Dakota voters chose to put a stronger smokefree state law in place. Voters in all 53 counties voted to require all non-hospitality workplaces, restaurants and bars to be 100% smokefree. In addition, North Dakota's smokefree law adds provisions to require all gaming / gambling facilities to be 100% smokefree, and also bans smoking within 20 feet of entrances and some outdoor places.
Prior to the new law, North Dakota Century Code Chapter 23-12-09 – 23-12-11 prohibited smoking in all enclosed areas of public places and places of employment.
