This year\u2019s top 10 list accounts for 23,537 violations, compared to 26,207 in 2024 and 28,912 in 2023. That\u2019s a 19 percent decline in three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The top 10 OSHA citation categories are the same as 2024 and 2023, with some movement within the list again this year. The only category that shows a citation increase this year is scaffolding, which grew by 32. Roofing operations led the citation counts in 6 of the 10 categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The 10 most-cited OSHA safety standards of fiscal year 2025 are:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Fall Protection<\/strong> \u2013 General Requirements (Standard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osha.gov\/pls\/oshaweb\/owadisp.show_document?p_table=standards&amp;p_id=10099\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1926.501<\/a>):&nbsp;<strong>5,914 violations<\/strong> (-393 vs. 2024). The roofing industry led this category.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hazard Communication <\/strong>(Standard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osha.gov\/laws-regs\/regulations\/standardnumber\/1910\/1910.1200\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1910.1200<\/a>):&nbsp; <strong>2,546 violations<\/strong> (342 fewer than 2024). Roofers again led this category.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ladders <\/strong>(Standard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osha.gov\/laws-regs\/regulations\/standardnumber\/1926\/1926.1053\">1926.1053<\/a>):&nbsp;<strong>2,405 violations<\/strong> (-168 vs. 2024), with roofing as the leading industry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lockout\/Tagout<\/strong>  (Standard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osha.gov\/laws-regs\/regulations\/standardnumber\/1910\/1910.147\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1910.147<\/a>):&nbsp;<strong>2,177 violations<\/strong> (256 fewer than 2024).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Respiratory Protection<\/strong> (Standard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osha.gov\/laws-regs\/regulations\/standardnumber\/1910\/1910.134\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1910.134<\/a>):&nbsp;<strong>1,953 violations<\/strong> (-517 vs. 2024). Failure to provide medical evaluation for workers using respiratory protection was the top cause.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fall Protection<\/strong> &#8211; Training Requirements (Standard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osha.gov\/laws-regs\/regulations\/standardnumber\/1926\/1926.503\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1926.503<\/a>):&nbsp;<strong>1,907 violations<\/strong> (143 fewer than 2024). Roofing was the leading industry for violations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Scaffolding<\/strong> (Standard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osha.gov\/laws-regs\/regulations\/standardnumber\/1926\/1926.451\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1926.451<\/a>):&nbsp;<strong>1,905 violations<\/strong> (32 more than 2024). Masonry, roofing, framing and siding operations received the most citations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Powered Industrial Trucks<\/strong> (Standard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osha.gov\/laws-regs\/regulations\/standardnumber\/1910\/1910.178\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1910.178<\/a>):&nbsp;<strong>1,826 violations<\/strong> (-422 vs. 2024).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Eye and Face Protection<\/strong> (Standard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osha.gov\/laws-regs\/regulations\/standardnumber\/1926\/1926.102\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1926.102<\/a>):&nbsp;<strong>1,665 violations<\/strong> (149 fewer than 2024). The roofing industry also led violations of this standard.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Machine Guarding<\/strong> (Standard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osha.gov\/laws-regs\/regulations\/standardnumber\/1910\/1910.212\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1910.212<\/a>):&nbsp;<strong>1,239 violations<\/strong> (-302 vs. 2024).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For comparison, the 2024 Top 10 were:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fall Protection \u2013 General 2023)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respiratory Protection:&nbsp;2,470&nbsp;(-11 vs. 2023)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lockout\/Tagout:&nbsp;2,443&nbsp;(-111 vs. 2023)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Powered Industrial Trucks:&nbsp;2,248&nbsp;(-306 vs. 2023)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fall Protection \u2013 Training Requirements:&nbsp;2,050&nbsp;(-62 vs. 2023)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scaffolding:&nbsp;1,873&nbsp;(-986 vs.
